A recent survey was done among the analyticians to find out whom they thought would win the ACL 2010 tournament. A simple question was posed to all of them "Who will win the ACL tournament & why?". Here are some responses captured by your own FACLP...
Mushkil: Depends on the ground conditions, moisture and wind speed...if all of them are favorable I think...Hunters should win
Turbo: If heyram can be contained, we will be the champions....dew is not a factor
Dew (smiling): Anancondas…if it doesn’t then my annual review is screwed
Vindaloo: I certainly think with our capabilities and strategic directions the leverage we can draw from
the talent depth would be
FACLP(eagerly waiting for an answer): yes?
Vindaloo: Yes, what I was saying is that the depth in our batting and the quality we bring to the table
is only challenged by the demons of the mind in which it becomes
FACLP(really impatient): who do you think will win? You guys?
Vindaloo: No Anacondas
FACLP(pissed): Thanks!
Dude: Yaar, I hate to say this but my last experience at St. Johns wasn't great...I could field only for
5 balls and we lost...whatever it is Hunters won't win...it could probably be Supernova or Vandals or
maybe Anacondas...I don't know yaar...
Dushman(ignoring the question): Can you please send the headcount numbers in time? Also just the key wins
for last month...
FACLP(amazed): hello! do you want to take a guess on who will be the ACL champions?
Dushman: Hmmm.....i mean...the supernovas have a chance...but it'll really depend on Turbo for Vandals
and Dew for the Anacondas....i mean...everyone has a chance but if you look at it with phantasmagoria no one has an all too
clear chance...
Psychat(startled by such a blasphemous question): Jeetega Jeetaga, Supernova Jeetega Jeetega Jeetaga,
Supernova Jeetega Jeetega Jeetaga, Supernova Jeetega...Dobara mat poochhna
Heyram(smiling & saying nothing): hehehehehehehehe
FACLP: So it'll be you guys again eh?
Heyram(smiling & saying nothing): hehehehehehehehe
So-near-a-ban: Definitely Supernova. We didn't want to meet Heyram but I guess we have to accept defeat
FACLP: OK
So-near-a-ban: Hey, actually what I meant was we're going to win...
FACLP: ok? so you're going for Vandals
So-near-a-ban: Yeah, why not...look at us from the auctions...we were focussed then and we are focussed
now...there have been few mishaps but it's mainly because of frustoo madrasi and the 4 legged umpires at
UCG...
Channel V: I'd go for Supernova now that I've been given chance to play again. I was thinking of going
to Apple County with Betaal, but now I feel charged up again like a Red Bull
Frustoo Madrasi: Am confused…Regression model is saying Supernova, CHAID is saying Vandals and Time Series Forecasting is saying Anancondas…There is no model saying Hunters so probability of each winning is 1/3. Now if you do a random sample across the
FACLP (irritated): one answer please…who will it be in the end?
Frustoo Madrasi: Statistics is an exact science but the science of predicting is really an art. I am an artist
FACLP: Never mind.
Betaal: Sorry, no comments.
FACLP: Why?
Betaal: BTW: please note that I hit a six in our match against the Hunters. It felt good
FACLP: Yes, but take a guess at least...
Betaal: Which team is Channel V in?
FACLP: Supernova
Betaal: Then it's Supernova
B.Masti: Each team has 0.25 probability of winning. So if I bet 100 rs, I am assured to get back rs. 25
at least.
FACLP: Who has maximum odds?
B.Masti: What do you mean by odds?
Pandey Sir: Well, you see...I mean given the reputation it has got to be Anacondas...I'd hate to see
Innuendo's team win again.
Anti-Jonty: Eha koi baat hui...jaroor hum jeetenga
KaaliZabaan: Howzzaaat?
FACLP(surprised): what?
KaaliZabaan (pointing a finger and shouting): Howzzaaat? Howzaaaaaatttt?
FACLP: what are you doing man?
KaaliZabaan (very angrily): Howzzaaaaaaaat? Howzaaaaaatttt?
FACLP: I have no clue, but I better leave you alone...
Innuendo:It's a rhetoric question
FACLP: Thanks.
Boraaaaag: I've got my eensweenging yorkaar readddy....i will get ebheryone aaouuutt. joy ho anacondas
ka
RRC (complete silence):
FACLP: don't you want to take a guess?
RRC (shakes his head without saying anything):
FACLP: ok thanks for spending 10 seconds with me
Yogi: Eha koi baat hui...jaroor hum jeetenga
FACLP: don't copy Anti-jonty's answer...say something original..
Yogi(under pressure now & smiling): hmmmmm....
FACLP: it's an easy question yaar..
Yogi(nodding his head vigorously now): Hum jeetenge...Hum
Peda: Yaar, I feel we should have a ACL for TT and Badi
FACLP: That's fine, but why don't you take a guess for THIS tournament
Peda (completely disinterested): MMBI
FACLP: what's that?
Peda: Whoever wins, nothing is bigger and better than MMBI...so MMBI is the winner
Beeshoo: Anacondas in spite of having Kaalizabaan
Stylebhai 1: Sir, ek baat main kehna chahta hoon
FACLP: yes?
Stylebhai 1: Winson balls are not good for these tournaments
FACLP: why?
Stylebhai 1: The ball doesn't come to the bat that easily
FACLP: Don't you think it's a problem with how you play?
Stylebhai 1 (enraged): That's the problem with people these days...never even played and making
suggestions....hmmpfff!
FACLP: ok fine...but who would win?
Stylebhai 1: if people don't cheat like they have done against us (chargers), then no one would win
FACLP: how is that possible?
Stylebhai 1: Main bola tha...it's impossible not to cheat
FACLP: no I mean how can there not be a clear winner
Stylebhai 1: Because no one is playing true cricket
FACLP(irritated but not showing): Enough of this, we'll come back to you later
Humpty Dumpty(very happily opens a chit of paper and reads): Anacondas will rewrite history. Take my
words to see the chemistry. We'll change the statistics. And turn upside down the mathematics
FACLP: So you will win?
Humpty Dumpty (goes again): Yes Yes Yes. We are the best. Don't take a guess. We will meet success
Still Ready: I feel bad that the grass won't grow if you guys play cricket there
FACLP: what? what???
Still Ready (hyper): You guys are evil...You guys suck...Go away!
Dis-dain: Inshallah, Chargers
FACLP: But they are not even in the semis
Dis-dain: Thank god for that
FACLP: what do you mean?
Dis-dain: If we were, then we would win
FACLP: but now, who do you think will win?
Dis-dain: Chargers
FACLP: Do you even understand my question?
Dis-dain (apologetic): Yes yes, actually I was dreaming a bit...I wished someone asked me that and I
could name my team....but no we're not there.....I think Vandals will win. Hey ram has to lose.
Craydit: I want my money back
FACLP: what money?
Craydit: The money I spent on the auctions
FACLP: how is that related to my question?
Craydit: It isn't, but it's related to my answer
FACLP: How? How??
Craydit: Whoever wins, I lose. So before I lose, I want my money back.
FACLP: Why is money related to someone winning?
Craydit(deep breath shares a secret): I betted in bangalore satta market on my team winning this year's
ACL
FACLP: Oh, now I see....well good luck with next year! :-)
Squeaky: Our team
FACLP: You mean hunters?
Squeaky: Yes & No
FACLP: what does that mean?
Squeaky: Yes Hunters will win. But even if its Anacondas since they sit next to me I am part of them. If
Supernova wins, I win since I will support them. If Vandals win - I win since they're close to me
FACLP: That's the weirdest answer....
Squeaky: I call this creating win win situations
Hashish: Supernova koi shak nahi
Rain VP: Go Supernova!
Neverika: Anacondas since Betaal was part of it last year
Anindigo: Since Bulls lost, I have no interest
Cosec D (refusing to give one answer): Depends on my annual review
FACLP: what?
Cosec D: If it's good then Supernova, If bad then Vandals
Hope this gave you enough insights on who the favorites are how TMs are divided in their loyalties. But only time will tell. Let's see.....

Last Round Robin Matches
Day of Upsets:
Supernova losing to anacondas,Vandals loosing to Chargers and then...Hunters losing to Raging Bulls. The last one may not be termed as upset by the purists...but purely on the basis of Raging bulls form, the result was not cards.
The Hunters never looked like chasing down the target. they were jus knockin the ball around, jus to ensure they make it to the semis at the expense of Chargers. And so they did.
Chargers made a mince meat of Vandals,by tonking them for 90 odd runs. a certain gentleman by the name Disdain went berserk...and made a monstrous 63. clouting sixes at will he single handedly won the match. but guess it was not enough to take them thro to the next stage...a second failure in 2 seasons.
Supernova were in a state of trance...and frankly no one was interested in the match...except a guy called SUNDAY...he was mis-fielding at will and was chasing the ball even after the ball crossed the boundary...dedication i say....anacondas won wid some ease....
Raging bulls had a bad start...but Chinese Chucker went ballistic...and was hitting bowlers to all corners of the ground....he even induced a mis field from the Dude...well the dude still had a chance at redemption..but it was a boring match after that...
Hunters never got going and registered their lowest score of 65 in the tournament. only the qualification was playin on their mind...and they did manage to qualify...
Semis are set to begin by 15th of march at st johns grounds...
and the match-ups for the semis are quite the same as last year except that Hunters have made an entry to the semis..
Anacondas play Hunters and old rivals Vandals play Supernova....
see at semis....

Final Week
Final week of round robin matches...
1 in-consequential match and 2 matches involving the minnows and one Goliath.
Match 1: Chargers vs Vandals.
Chargers are somehow on a high after getting their first ever win in the ACL...after a nerve wrecking 8 losses in a row...and they probably think they have revived their semis hopes...but guess they have their task cut out...Vandals,despite the loss against Supernova are a strong team...
Chargers wud hope for a inept batting display that Vandals showed in the last league match of season 1 against the Terror Squad(now raging bulls)... Chargers would have to win with a big margin and hope that Hunters loose too...too many things...dont u think...but things can still tick for them....
Match 2: Anacondas vs Supernova
It sure is an inconsequential match...but it will decide the standings and the semi final match-ups...with each time would want to finish first...not because its a matter of pride...but its an easier route to finals...reason?? the table topper will play either hunters or chargers..easily the weak links in the ACL. So let them keep hopin....Anacondas are missing key players so they might end up second or third...and Supernova have every chance of finishin at the top...after beginin their campaign distrastrously..
Match 3: Hunters vs Raging bulls
Bulls are playing for some lost pride...and Hunters wud know how they have to play by the end of the first fixture...if Chargers loose the first match...hunters can afford to relax...cos then winning or loosing may not matter...cos they wud neways finish 4th..and wil play semis...a match which may not generate enough curiosity....but if chargers win and win big...hunters would have to either win or lose by a small margin...too many criterions??
get to the ground and watch it urself....and next time we have matches on 15th...we will see semis and finals...
so final league matches get underway....

Match week 4: Spill Over
What a damp squib of a match....
Supernova v/s Raging bulls
first of all tribute to the Dude...we thought he was quite bad at cricket..now he has proved that he is equally bad at umpiring as well...how can he constantly miss counting the balls...it was a such a shame..tat both the sides had to play 9.5 years each...this guy shud b thrown out of ACL...frankly...
now gettin back to the match...nothin great abt it...Supernova came..faced soem chin music from the Ragin bulls...but then the bulls fielders were exceptional in the field( for supernova that is)...and let them build a relatively big score of 90...the biggest culprits were B.Masti and Big Momma Sandstorm. these 2 cousins of gibbs and rhodes dropped Hey Ram generously...and he went on to hit quite a few boundaries...but then its bcome a norm tat hey ram enjoys some early life and then goes on to score big...neways...anti-jonty was slightly in his elements and chipped in wid few runs...bulls had 3 stand out bowlers in Channel V, Chinese Chucker and Chinnappa...but the fielding left them disappointed...
comin to the bulls batting...the dauntin task was enuf to dent the hopes ...and they never got going...there were no stand out bowlers here..and the fielding wasnt great either...how cud it be...wen the bulls were not scoring at all...bulls cud have won it...if not for their inept batting display...
they have a rather easy outing next time around...they play unpredictable hunters...they have nothin at stake...bulls have only pride to play for...

Match Week -4
Week 4 Round up:
Thank God i didnt predict anything last time around...cause the matches had unusual results. But one thing has stood out...with all the euphoria around Hunters has died down..and they are on their familiar ways..
Match 1:
Chargers v/s Raging Bulls:
Raging bulls have almost relinquished their semi-final berth with some atrocious game. Losing a game is one thing...and loosing to the Chargers is a completely different thing. Chargers finally stopped their Juggernaut :) and managed to win much to their own amazement. Raging bulls never looked like winning...gettin out to some harmless full toss deliveries...and registered the lowest score of this seasons ACL. 45 was definitely not a defendable score. Once predicted as a serious title contender...this team may end up at the bottom of the table. with no specific credit to neone...Chargers have finally realised they can win...and are now envisagin another upset this friday against Vandals...all i would say is...watch out hunters...u may go down again :)
Match 2: Hunters v/s Anacondas
Considered as a strong bowling unit, Hunters bowlers were all over the place. 17 extras cost them the match, cos 81 is quite a defendable score. Mushkil and the Dude batted sensibly to get the score some respect. with the bowling gone completely awry...the Anacondans chased confortably..and have sealed their semis berth. With a match left against Supernova, they wud want to finish on a high. Looks like the Dude is only fit for Fielding and nothing else.
Match 3:Supernovas v/s Vandals
Many touted this as a grudge/revenge match. No match in ACL polarises the crowd as much as this clash does. Supernovas decided to bat and with some lusty hitting from Hey Ram in the begining, the Vandals were dreading a repeat of last years semis. But that was cut short, after Hey Ram attempted a Switch Hit pull, wich got him six earlier, proving to be his demise. he was bowled and Vandals were seen celebrating...but with some sensible batting from Innuendo( he finally gets some mention after the Neelaami) and Hammer-Deep, the Supernovans managed 75. So-near-a-ban got out the first ball for the nth time in ACL. but Turbo again proved to be thorn in the flesh...and he managed to take the attack single handedly to the opposition. much like last years league match between the 2 opponents. but that was not to be. with tight bowling...and some innovative fielding by Mrityunjay( who didnt take but embraced a catch :))
the Supernovans won a thriller....
Final Week of the round robin match is on...with everyone except Raging Bulls and Supernovans, have just one match to play. Hunters, Raging bulls and Chargers will fight tooth and nail to get the last semi-final berth. Supernova have almost ensured their berth atleast.

Results Match Day 3
Damn!!! i got 2 out of 3 right...betting on Raging bulls has only spoilt my predictions....
neways...
Supernova v/s Chargers:
Supernova had a thumping win ...and the chargers ensured they let them off the hook thro some innovative drop catches...Chargers limped to a score of 62...and Anti-Jonty was responsible for 2 stupendous catches and 5 dismissals...he single-Handedly tonked them. And after some initial hiccup...Supernova finished the match in jiffy..they cud have been easily 20-4 but well...Chargers keep everyone happy....
The Dude had some altercations with either team on some dubious decisions...but all izzz well that ends well...Supernova are well on course.
Hunters v/s Vandals:
Possibly the most interesting match of the week...and it sure lived upto the billing...one reason for it: the Hunters are SUPPOSEDLY in form. Hunters won the toss and started some early artillery...and rattled 33 off 3 overs...then came a brief hiatus...with the wickets of Mushkil and RRC. The dude played a brief cameo...and then the hunters stuttered to 81 off 10 overs.
Vandals started slow and lost So-Near-A-Ban...who got out to an ambitious drive...and was caught by Frustoo Madrasi for the second time in ACL. Heart-Break...the Vandals slowly started scoring and the drama started...with the hunters captain miffed at something. later it was found...he was upset with So-Near-A-Bans fielding for them. but little cud hunters do..and the match went to the wire. and the Vandals won it.
Anacondas v/s Raging Bulls
Possibly the most boring match...with no thrill watsoever...These guys, just cudnt do it. Raging bulls have been a mighty disappointment....and their batting jus didnt click....Anacondas were decent enuf....but only a shadow of wat they were last year around....Raging bulls cudnt chase down a score of 89...and lsost the match quite confortably....

Week 3 Predictions.
Matches: Round 3
Due to some status atyachaar, the leaders have requested for a match to be played on thursday. others will be played on friday.
Match 1:
Supernova v/s Chargers
Both have pride to play for. Supernova want to prove their billing of being the best side...and of course...Chargers have to live upto the tag of "vyin-for-the-last-spot" tag. contrasting wishes but well...we have to fit them all.
Key Players for Supernova: As always...hey ram...if he can turn it on...koi maaai ka laal kuch ukhaad nahin sakta...but there are some other key players as well...hammer-deep and Mr. Yogi...if they can get their bearing...god help the opposition...
Key Players for Chargers: Dis-dain and Dushman remain centre to the fortunes of chargers..however...others are chippin in too....Problem with this team is...they try too hard to lose the match...all i wud say is...dont try...jus lose..
Prediction: Supernova thump Chargers.
Match 2:
Vandals v/s Hunters
this is a match between the table leaders. both scampered to victory in their last fixture...this is expected to go down to wire...
Key Players Vandals: The whole team...and now even frustoo madrasi is chippin in with his silk green tee...
they gonna play hard...
Key Players Hunters:
The dude has been seen jumping around after his last gasp six...but rest assured...u cant be a key player...baansuri walaa and Mushkil will try to continue their good form...RRC and Bandana will prove to be tuf nut to crack..
Prediction: In spite of form on their side...Hunters lose a evenly contested match.
Match 3:
Raging Bulls V/s Anacondas:
This match will virtually ensure, who lives on to fight another day and who sees the exit door.Raging bulls are fresh from the pasting they received from Vandals...and are rueing their misses...Anacondas on the other hand, almost beat vandals...but again..tenacity is wat they miss...
Key players for Raging Bulls: Channel V,the self-styled B.Masti, Style Bhai-2 and of course our Chinese Chucker...and who can forget their most expensive import...Chinnappa...if these guys play to their potential...they can whip any team in the circuit...
Key Players for Anacondas: Supari Gupta, BORAAAAAG and of course Kaali Zubaan. I did say in the begining of the tournament is that Anacondas this time is not as potent as last time...they lack a good 3rd bowler. frustoo madrasi-2 may do a good job...if he gets to bowl that is.
Prediction: Raging bulls win a close match.

Match Day-2
Whether anyone agrees wid me or not....but this time around...each team composition is better than what it was last time. Hunters and Chargers have assembled a better team and are playin good cricket.
It was a day of paisa vasool....
Hunters vs Chargers:
What a match...we were treated to some high class tense finish.Chargers won the toss and decided to bat....Dis-dain and Style Bhai-1 opened the innings and played quite well. Dis-dain dispatched the Dude( who was too over dressed for the ocassion) for 15 runs in the over...and the innings received its momentum...but that was to be short lived...with hunters picking the 2 openers of consecutive balls....Mr.Squeaky Voice( who has now employed a voice trainer) was dancing like a mad man. Then came Dushman...and gave innings the impetus it needed.with some brilliant mis-fieldings by the Hunters, Chargers made 92 runs. Hunters opened with RRC and Bansuri-walaa..they nudged and trudeged...and RRC asked for a break due to exhaustion....Mr.RRC, have something to say here...its becoming too familiar a tactic from ur side...pls refrain from doin this...do somethin innovative. When being denied a break...RRC went mad and started killing the bowlers.
Then came dushman...and bowled a good spell...and now...the equation was 12 runs off 8 balls..and the twist int he game....Dushman ran well and snarled two catches off successive ball and RRC and Mushkil were goners..left with no option, the dude had to come and bat...he took strike to dushman...dushman bowled to innocous deliveries...2 wides..but at the same time..2 wickets fell in that over too...with 7 required off 2 balls...dushman bowled a low full toss and dis was enuf for the dude to close his eyes and take a wild heave...and ball jus abt hit the boundary...and it was a six...crowd was stunned..this was least expected of the Dude..but well...he had to finish off the match...one off one..and the fielders were called in the ring...dushman bowled , the dude nudged and ran...and Style bhai-1 fumbled at mid-on and the match was gone for them...wat a scene it was...
Chargers are stil without a win in either seasons of ACL...heres wishing them all the best...
Vandals vs Anacondas:
Lucky escape wud be an understatement for Vandals...they almost ensured a defeate for themselves...but for some horrendous bowling and fielding Vandals managed to escape...and now thats becomin a trend for them. Anacondas batted first and batted sensibly in singles and 2s...Kaalizabaan couldnt control his instincts and holed out in the deep....then supari came and played a calm innings till he decided enuf is enuf and belted 16 runs off 3 balls of So-near-a-ban..and took him out off the attack...at this stage..anacondas were 54 off 6 overs..and looked set for a big score...but then Turbo came changed the complexion of the match....he took 3 beautiful wickets and Anacondas had to wind up at 75...not a formidable score...but it turned out to be a competitive score...
Vandals opened with Vindaloo and so-near-a-ban...and played quite well in the begining..but over-confidence was their undoing...both got out tryin to hit big....the following batsman did no good..and got out in similar fashion...with 4 of their batsman gone...it was left to frustoo madrasi to take them thro...he was clad in this silky green tshirt and looked everybit a southern superstar..and the stage was well set for him...vandals at this point required 30 off 30...and some clinical batting made the target smaller..but again the wickets fell....with the last pair on the wicket...Supari came on to bowl..and it was spin wat he tried...must say for a good fielder like him...he shud have taken that caught and bowled and wrapped up the match...but he dropped a sitter...and then a run out....Supari had indeed dropped the match...and Vandals had their ever familiar come from behind victory...
so pulsating matches dotted the Match Day 2....however we wud have loved to see Supernova and Raging bulls play...but am sure wenever they play...it will b worth a watch...
and ya...both my predictions came good....cheers... :)

Predictions Round 2:
First Match:
Hunters v/s Chargers
The battle for superamacy has begun...jus that this is for continuing their reign at the bottom of the table. yes these 2 teams have tried really hard last time around...but Chargers won with some amazing loosing streak...which has spilled over to this season....
Key Players:
Chargers: Dis-Dain and Tissue remain the key to their fortune. They style bhai-1 is not playin this time...guess he is considering a career in acting...and he is also nursing Finger nail injury..which will put him out of action for 2 hours...and this happens to be during the match.
Hunters: Fresh from their win against last years champions...the hunters have been thinkin they cud win ACL this time. and this was seen in the spring of their owners step...Bansuriwala will prove to be a crucial player...Muskhil wil try his mushkil best to win this for hunters...abt the Captain...he hasnt mend his ways...he still dives...
Prediction: Hunters win a close match.
Match 2
Vandals v/s Anacondas:
Vandals have shown amazing batting and bowling display...looks like the practice with the kids of malleshpalya helped.
Anacondas showed depth in their batting against the Chargers...but lacked firepower in the bowling as they got hammered nicely...with Peda hitting thro this brilliant TT chop shots...
Key Players:
Vandals: the whole team...they chip in quite well.
Anacondas: A lot depends on Supari and Kaalizabaan. they get out early and anacondas become water snakes.
Prediction: Vandals win a close match.
Match 3
Supernova v/s Raging Bulls:
Our sources say this match may not happen after all...for supernova are short of some players...either it will be postponed or Bulls get a walk-over.
in either scenario, it will be a dent for Supernova.
Key Players:
Raging Bulls: Channel V will try hard to justify the "V" in his name. Style Bhai-2 may play a important hand. Chinnappa may turn it around this time. he was a disappointment last time aronud.
Supernova: Hey Ram will want to play this game at any cost and if he plays anything can happen.
Prediction: Raging Bulls win.

Round 1 : Match ke Mujrim
Am back!!!..
Last week we saw a great upset..and one Innocuous display by a team which boasts of some strong players.
lets start off with Supernova here....people say there were many reasons for supernova's debacle. some say " brash" display of confidence and some say the absence of Radio Bharti...who with her constant jabber won them half the ACL matches.
anyways...we have jus received some photographs, which have left everyone stunned.
Supernova captain Hammer-Deep had apparently skipped his team's practice and was seen chilling out in a cave resort...with some rain dance to boot...he was engrossed in the dance the whole night...he came to the match with a groggy eye. and as we all know his fetish for aviators...he wore them for the match. Now missing the team practice is a big offence..and being a captain...a strict no-no....this was one big reason for his no-show for the match against the Hunters. the picture shows ample proof...now there are talks of rebellion inside the Supernova.
Now with Raging bulls. giving company to hammer-deep at the cave resort was the ACL debutant B.Masti. He was probably celebrating his debut instead of practicing with his mates. well thats wat proved to be his un-doing...from being the next superstar...he has become a "Grahan"...lets hope he doesnt give the low-bounce as the reason for his 2 ball duck. again the same picture holds ample proof....
lets hope better sense prevails....

Round 1 Matches:
Did we hear an upset here??
Supernova v/s Hunters:
The blogger hangs his head in shame for havin underestimated the Hunters. He was made to eat a humble pie wen Hunters annihilated the Supernova. I thot the match would be over in no time, but well hunters had other thots. They started on expected lines. They LOST the toss. Hammer Deep was happy enough to Bat first.
Hunters opened bowling and maintained a tidy line. The dude drew first blood and did the "U Cant See Me" celebration. He thinks he has the calypso magic of Michael Holding in him. He wil be straightened out soon. Supernova had a sedate start. with 49 in 6 odd overs. But then the slide started with Baansuri Waala takin 3 wickets and Mushkil( was subject to lotsa jibes) took one wicket, courtsey an innovative dive from the Dude. and this wicket was wat won them the match...it was tat of Hey Ram.
Supernova fielded against themselves. Their fielders were seen diving on static balls, which drew cheers and guffaw from the partisan crowd.it proved to their undoing...adn hunters chased down easily. Tempers flared after the match, but all ended well.
Vandals v/s Raging Bulls
This match sure was a disappointment...Raging bulls with a more than formidable team, lost out convincingly to Vandals. A close match was expected, but this was a meek surrender. Later when quizzed abt Raging bull's batting failure, it was found that their batting lynch pin B.Masti came to bat in the end. and a low trajectory of the ball dint help things either.
With a superlative batting performance, Vandals tonked Raging bulls. Raging bulls hav e a lot at stake and they need to win their following games.
Anacondas v/s Chargers
This was the only match i predict right...the reason?? Charger's amazing consistency. they still havent opened their score in the wickets column. i wonder wat state of mind is their owner in. he doesnt seem to give in as yet. besides...he has been busy more with the merchandise of the team and less with the team itself.
Chargers with discharge with clinical precision by the Anacondas. Though anacondas have started out on a good note, their next challenge could well hurl them down.
1 out of 3: not a bad prediction at all...well Hunters ne sab chowpat kar diya.

Second Week News
Chargers team News:
in spite of some royal Dis-CHARGING, the team owner refuses to get bogged down. he wants to immortalise himself in the annels of history. His team which has nothing to show in terms of victory in the ACL history, has had his wings chopped this time as well. the rechristening hasnt helped either.
he is now busy wid the merchandise. a true business-man that he is, he wants to recover his money thro the merchandise. He has been asking his team to buy t-shirt with the team logo. but some in the team have protested to it. the reason??
the logo has the owners name in it....the team members who oppose it, are sayin they want to wear this team t-shirt out as well, so being called OWNER'S Chargers may actually jeopardise things.

Flash News:Vandals
Flash News:
News just coming in: Vandals were seen practising really hard at the now obslete murgeshpalya grounds....the likes of daffy,so-near-a-ban and the big vidaloo were seen running around wid the local kids....
we had to attach a aerial surveillance camera to a crane to see them practice. it was a hush-hush operation. Vindaloo made kids bowl under-arm full toss on the leg side to boost his leg side play. and also do his confidence a world of good. so-near-a-ban and daffy were seen dishing out short pitched deliveries at the happless kids...they cudnt touch a ball.
It was really sad to see vandals resort to such antics to jus bring themselves back into form. the Frustoo Madrasi was seen giving John Buchanan like pose with a laptop. He must be deciding strategies of who plays and who doesnt. little does he know he,himself , may not get to play afterall. To make the practice hi-tech, Frustoo was using a laptop webcam to do some video analysis. but then got busy watchin Quick Gun Murugan on the laptop.
We have to wait and watch, if the morale-boosting practice really helps vandals.

Predictions Round 1
Let the Ladaais began.
First match:
The first match sees a face-off between Vandals and the revamped Raging bulls. The Vandals seek a revenge of last years league stage. This match saw an ugly episode involving a batsman being bowled over his head. It was his sheer vertical limit which went against him. he has moved on to a different team and that might see the tension ease between them.
Key players and team news for Vandals: As always Vandals depend on 3 ppl,So-near-a-ban,Daffy and Turbo. However, their support staff looks strong too with the likes of Frustoo Madrasi. he is taking care of the NRR strategies. The captain is more than useful...but sometimes is a self-proclaimed cry-baby. watch out for him.He may CRY foul for nothing.
Key Players and Team News for Raging Bulls: The team has seen a revamp and even the players. they now have a stronger team, at least on paper. Hey-Heys cheering could help in a big way. channel V and Chinnappa could well do the trick. One player who has been on the anvil this time is B.Masti. He has been canvasing himself as a star opening batsman. its to be seen if he makes the playing seven. a noticeable absentee is Style Bhai -2.Betaal may could not turn out to be a strike bowler.
Prediction: a close win for Raging Bulls.
Match 2:
Anacondas v/s Chirags Chargers
Hope the rechristening helps Chirag change the fortune, cos the challengers last time remained challenged.
Key Players and Team News for Anacondas:
Supari Gupta will be the one the team will depend a lot on. With the ACL commitee deciding to come down heavily on sledging, KaaliZabaan will see his wings clipped and should concentrate on doing more with the bat and less with the tongue. Boraaaag will get to show his customary jump at the bowling crease. His waqar younis like antics will be on ample view, lets see if he get to bowl like him.
Key Players and Team News for Chargers:
They have picked up a good team this time and may not get to finish last this time around.a second last finish will be a quantum leap.No-Gain remains a key player and wud want to go hammer and tongs in the match. With the double whammy of the Gulti Brothers in the team, they have quite a chance. the two name sake 17s may not actually make it. Style bhai-1 will get to show his histronic skills both in front and behind the stumps. it wil be a treat to watch.a fitness report is awaited on Tissue.
Prediction: Anacondas wil win a close match.
Third Match:
Supernovas v/s Hunters
hmm...are u ppl sure u want to read preview of this match? frankly am not too keen. but for those who are new to ACL, this is for you. Supernovas butchered Hunters the last time they met. it was such a clinical annihilation, that even supernova supports started cheering hunters.
Key Players and Team News for Supernova:
the key to their fortune, Hey Ram. He is the MVP of the ACL. Without him Supernova looks like a Mint with a hole. he can do anythin on his day. Anti-Jonti will want to improve on his butter finger display from the last ACL. Hammer-Deep will need no instructions,as he listens to only self. Innuendo will want to do justice to the RETAINED tag this time around.
Key Players and Team News for Hunters:
The supernova supporters....er...sorry for that. there is a peculiar player this team has called Mushkil.he is a decent bat, but when he bowls, he keeps bowling. but he remains key player.the Dude, as always is meant for cheering only. he hardly does anything. but wen he comes to innovative dives, none better him. then there is this kid from Grudge movie series.he is fondly called RRC. Such muted are his expressions, its often considered a Japanese horror flick material. One final mention, to the owner. no matter what happens, this guy cheers the team. so Hunters love him.
Prediction: Supernova hunt the hunters down.

Pychats Moments
Bangalore:
Our special correspondent reports that the supernovans are conducting a special boot camp for conditioning the players. They hit a popular Bay of Bengal joint. Oye Calcutta. They were treated to some stress tests. but hell broke loose, when Psychat repeated his last finals performance. No, we are not talkin abt his cricketing skills or his on-field bouts of sleep. Its his Shirtless act.
When contacted, Psychat said this was one of the stress tests his team was subjected to. News has spread now that Oye Calcutta is the latest pole dancing destination of Bangalore. Also the ardent fans demand the joint be named as "OYE HOYE" instead of oye Calcutta. Frankly Pyschat has flouted with societal norms and not made ACL very proud.
Post this fiasco, Psychat is the toast of the C Grade film industry. He will soon be cast in a movie by the name " Main Sleep ki Diwaani Hoon".
Speculations are rife, that Pyschat will now be used as a Cheerleader and will not own a franchise.
Hope all falls in place.

Speculations are rife, that Pyschat will now be used as a Cheerleader and will not own a franchise.
Hope all falls in place.

Blast from the Past
Lets do a round of recap of Season 1.
Supernova: Under the supreme leadership of the ever sleeping giant...Supernovans managed to win the first season...
the reasons were many...
Strengths: Hey Ram..man can do nething...hall of famer.. but tad lazy and often seen massaging his abdomen in disgust. Innuendo on their side, they can bend any rules.
Weakness: the Owner, he sleeps during their own match. He may be banned for his shirtless act in season 2.we sure didnt expect a SIX PACK from him...but a SINGLE SACK was definitely a shocker. they miss an all-rounder.The other big miss in this team is a quality fielder. They do have someone called anti-jonty. we thot he was a bucket hand. but he turned out to be butter fingers.
Anacondas: Rather than using the glorified term "Runners Up"...i wud say the "defeated finalist"...cos they were truly thumped and puctured by the Supernovans...it was a grudge rematch.
Strenghts: Dew and Sledging.
Weakness: Owner playing as a player.
Vandals: With some innovative cribbing and more than useful players..they cracked the whip in the initial stages...but the last match in the league stage was a shocker..the semis was a completely forgettable experience for these guys..again ripped by the supernovans.....the last they were seen doing was support any team that could beat Supernova.Grow up i say.
Strenghts: cribbing...they clearly know how to do it. So-near-a-ban and Daffy could make life tough for opponents.
Weakness:Air of Superiority.
Terror Squad: with the most uncharacterstic name, won its first match,in an uncharacterstic way too, thro a bowl out. with the owner comfortably using his time to write blogs than cheering his team. no one expected them to make semis but they did. he has now decided to let go of the reigns..and given it to the man with the most boisterous laugh....yes we wud have to come to terms with this if his team wins.
Strengths: Hey Hey's innovative cheering. he can roar:). Chinnappa is a good addition.
Weakness: The chinese CHUCKER(Betaal) they have aquired. betaal...no offense to him...but guess he might not get to bowl after all.:)
Hunters: this team thot it could get the semis berth...but terror squad beat vandals to book a place in semis. some say it was some inexplicable NRR calculation..at the same time..this team was too soft...and the leader didnt help either with his squeak. the last they were seen were beggin for a place in semis thro some fair play points..naaah not happenin..
Strengths: Very resolute. Winning and loosing is same for them. They expect both of it from any situation. their owner not playing:)
Weakness: Full of it.and the owner's commanding squeaky voice.
Challengers: These guys so didnt live up to their name...not even their owners name :D...this team was clearly formed to be a punch bags for other teams. they were meant to finish last..so tat the hunters could feel better.
Strenghts: TOUGH to find any!!!, but an injured tissue might turn their fortunes around.
Weakness: thats wat they are all about.

Kaudi ke Bhaav
Lets play Bezathi-Bezathi..
Best Player Rs. 700, Good Fielder - Rs. 500, Best Bowler - Rs. 400, Izzat - Priceless.
It's the same izzat that was at stake and what a story it turned out to be. The captain of a finalist team last year was shunned by his "very own" team and let out to the dogs...err...sorry the market. When the name was read out it was a moment everyone dreaded. The tension in the room Chicago Near North poring out from its doors and windows. Even the VC panel started to get moist. After 48 seconds of calling his name, the first bid was a mere Rs. 10 more than the base price. And post the fiasco in the IPL, this time owners thought he deserved well treatment even though his own franchise thought otherwise. There were exactly 2 more bids post which he was "sold" in this open market where izzat was traded like a dozen bananas in azadpur sabzi mandi.
In response to this, Betaal has threatened to grow beard in protest to his team leavin him out. he says he will scare the daylights out of them. Betaal, who finally struggled to turn 28 this jan(after so many years as a 16 year old), has had his first strand of facial hair, which he is carefully rearing as a goatie. only time will tell if it will grow into a beard. Till then lets wait and watch.
Some call him Betaal and some Chinese Chucker...but the smile stays intact...hats off to you sir!!!

ACL Season 2-The Neelaami
Welcome to ACL season 2.
The auctioning started with some mind boggling tactics from each owner. but only few got wat they wanted.
The Innuendo let out his mumbo jumbo on auctioning. and clearly..everyone wanted him to move on..and get a life..and start the auction. wonder , wen is Innuendo gonna learn the art of talkin short..and not roll his "R's".
Anyways.
First player to be auctioned was the man who numbed us thro his baansuri. Hunters owner probably mermerised by the dudes flute weilding skills thot he cud weild the bat as well. no worries...so the first player goes to the hunters...cheers...They went for probably their best pick...2pin!!! rest jus made up the numbers, clearly a result of some insipid biddin by the Dude and his Squeaky owner.
The Challengers were in a frenzy notchin as many players...thinking that instead of playin 7 players they wud field 14...but guess wat...it still might not be enuf. but we wud b in prayers for them. they went for Gulti babu...and the style bhai who never grew up. this style bhai is so effortless in his style...he is often seen giving tips to the opposition team. no wonder he always is the wicketkeeper. his dramatic skills wud leave Jack Nicholson dumb-founded:) . they have taken a gamble in buyin an injured player in the form of Tissue, but only time will tell. for Tissue, however, we feel sorry, from a second last team, he has gone to the last team. RIP.
The owner of Terror Squad relinquished his wild ways and let go of the reign of the team. deciding to spend more time on blogging. he let the reigns go to the man...who cud never smile...he only laughs and wen he laughs..he roars...:)The team this time was innovatively named as Raging Bulls...there were some whispers of naming it as Raging Balls...thank god better sense prevailed...and logo far better than the BLING one they had earlier.guess the team needed some revamp. Wid a brilliant bidding strategy...Channel V got the hottest (nothing to do with cricketing terms) player on the circuit. He got his SPECIAL friend Betaal for a shade above his base price. guess even a price of 1000 bucks wudnt have detered him. we all know they go BACK a long way. after the auction, our special correspondent caught them dancing to "Maa da Laadla", Channel V sure catches a good player well. pssst....they also are planning a secret practice session in goa. Also heard that today morning when Channel V broke the news to Betaal both of them hugged each other so close they managed to swat a fly between them...and its last rites is probably attended by the Who and Who of ACL.
Anacondas were asleep most of the time. unlike the one in J Lo's movie. but guess that was their strategy. they got hold of the pocket sized Waqar Younis(boraaaaag). No.No. Its not his cricketing skills..its his sheer attitude of banging the ball when not bowling. his celebrations are wild too. We say, their chances seem to be bleak this time around. But Supari Gupta might again do the thing for the anacondas. With KaaliZabaan proclaiming self as a brilliant strategist...we all wud wait...wat happens next. However, he may not get to sledge this time....for the sleeping giant has vetoed for no sledging.
Vandals, must say, had a brilliant strategy. their team remains almost the same. such fierce was their bidding for Turbo, they spent almost all their money on him. they however left a little bid their favorite fighter, Frustoo Madrasi guess they have pardoned his Net Run Rate fiasco and his prediction of their win. Frustoo Madrasi, i must say is a brave man, and we encourage him to come up wid more such calculations. cos we all know, they have to be a laughing stock neways, and a little humor helps.
Looked like the Supernovans were in a trance. in a bid to confuse everyone, the owner made some inexplicable and horrendous choices. there was constant eye balling from the Innuendo but the owner refused to budge. but he almost had the same team as last time. Anti-Jonty was seen waking the sleeping giant in between to raise the stake...but alas...little cud he do.:)
the auctioning concluded with some rapturous laughter from everyone, wonder wat was such a momentouse occassion, but the supernovan owner knew, he was clearly targeted :)
So here are the predictions( no the final predictions wil come from Frustoo Madrasi):)
Finals : Raging Bulls and Vandals
Semis: Anacondas and Supernova
Forget about the last, they will be consistent and remain where they were earlier.

Once Upon A Time, There Was A Blogger ...
It's 4:00 p.m., and if things are going according to plan, the ACL finals should be in progress now. It's time for the final post!
Let me start off by sharing how this blog came into existence. The idea came to my mind almost as soon as plans for the ACL were announced. After all, every prestigious cricket league needs its own anonymous blogger! Once team owners had been identified and bidding began, I decided it was time for me to start!
But first, I was going to need help - we have 2 offices, and I could only cover one without arousing suspicion. Fortunately, I found not one but two ideal accomplices - they helped gather information, mis-direct the public, and even wrote parts of the blog. They were especially creative in assigning some of my favorite nicknames. Most importantly, they were able to maintain complete secrecy on my, or should I say, our identity. Thanks team! We did it!
That our identity has been well-hidden is evident from the fairly well-distributed voting on the blog (apart from the two obvious choices) - very few people have picked out the correct answer(s)! I even hinted that the answer lies in analyzing who has been around for most the matches, but very few people seem to have picked up on it. Some of you data-driven types may have been misled by the post timestamps - blogger allows posts to be scheduled in the future (like this one), and also allows blogs to be posted with old time-stamps.
Anyway, enough detail - back to the story of the blog. The next step was to announce the existence of this blog. I created a Gmail ID and sent out emails to 12 people. I didn't, however, anticipate that our high-tech mail servers would send some of these to people's Junk E-mail folders. Fortunately, enough people got the note, and before long, several people knew about the blog. The rest, as they say, is history.
Before I come to the all important part, let me say how wonderful it's been to see people enjoying our work. It's been truly rewarding for all of us who've been associated with it. For those who many not have appreciated being featured here, I apologise for any trouble this has caused you. All comments on the blog have always been meant in humor, and have hopefully always been received that way.
Let me also share some metrics from the blog - since inception, we have had over 4,100 page hits, with the average person staying on the site for approximately 2m 40s. That's a pretty substantial productivity loss. Interestingly, while most people have accessed this blog from the office, my site meter shows that 80% of visitors connected via "dial-ups" - says something for our network, huh?
Finally, to the important part - Who am I. Quoting from the movie 'Analyze This' - "Who am I? Who am I is a question for the ages. That's the one we're all searching for, to find out who I am, who's in there, who wants to come out and say, 'Hey, I'm hungry'".
So, on that note, it's goodbye from me! See you in Season 2 :)
P.S.: Many of you have read the fakeiplplayer blog - you really didn't think I was going to reveal myself, did you?

My final post is also ready, and will automatically appear on the blog at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, while I'm watching the finals. That way, the suspense can last another 2 days! (don't you just love Blogger!)
